Tacking to the Center...

Hillary Clinton will support our beloved President’s nomination of Judge John G. Roberts, Jr. to the United States Supreme Court, and will vote for his confirmation.  This news broke late Sunday on The Drudge Report.  Is anyone actually surprised by this move?  Hillary Clinton wants to be our President’s successor in 2008.  She and her husband are the last two shrewd Democrats still alive and on this Earth.  She knows what appearance she needs to present in order to win votes.

More than any other politician who is constitutionally eligible to be President, Hillary Clinton has the innate skill to kiss the microphone.  In 1993, she showed her true colors when her commission wrote the "Health Security" socialized medicine program.  That plan was so extreme that, if you did not want to wait your turn for your surgery, and decided to independently pay a doctor to treat you, both you and the doctor would have committed a Federal crime!  Hillarycare was the straw that broke the camel’s back.  In the 1994 elections, the people gave the Congress to the GOP.

"Since the Hillarycare disaster, for over ten years, Hillary has been steadily moving her apparent political stance to the center."

Since the Hillarycare disaster, for over ten years, Hillary has been steadily moving her apparent political stance to the center.  She made remarks that inflammed the extreme leftist feminist crowd by calling abortion a tragedy.  She supported the initial Iraq resolution.  Now, she will vote for Judge Roberts.  Has Hillary repented of her socialism?  Hardly.

This person, the author of It Takes a Village, wants government to play a primary role in raising our children.  She is the person who, in San Francisco in 2004, inadvertantly -- or perhaps as a Freudian slip -- paraphrased the Communist Manifesto to describe her plans: "Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." It’s a wordy version of: "From each according to his means, to each according to his needs" -- Karl Marx.

"Hillary knows that her socialist philosophy must be hidden from the public if she is to have any chance to be elected President.    Therefore, she makes statements that appear to be moderate or conservative."

That kind of talk, however, will enable the GOP to run a turnip for the presidency and win.  Hillary knows that her socialist philosophy must be hidden from the public if she is to have any chance to be elected President.  Therefore, she makes statements that appear to be moderate or conservative.  It’s a wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing strategy.  Will it work?  To Hillary, it will work, because she thinks us to be stupid proles that have no memory and no healthy skepticism.  In reality, I think that, in this day and age, her 2004 comments will be repeated over and over and over and she will only get the votes of the socialist extremists who comprise the vast majority of what remains of the Democratic party.

One other question nags us: Can Hillary effectively abandon the Democratic base and still get nominated?  The Democratic base is so extreme -- militant feminists, socialists, extreme environmental and animal-rights groups, labor unions and Hollywood -- and is intolerant, very intolerant, of even an iota of dissension from their extremist doctrines.  Many think that the base will vote strategically, and for Hillary, recognizing that Hillary has to pump out B.S. to make it look like she has moved to the right in order to have a chance to get into office.  Then she can again show her true colors.  After all, Bill Clinton ran on a "moderate" platform and then immediately commissioned Hillary to do Hillarycare.

"The extreme left’s reliance on 1992 as precedent for 2008 is misplaced.  Bill Clinton snuck into office because Ross Perot ran for the office and humiliated both him and President Bush 41 in the first couple of debates."

The extreme left’s reliance on 1992 as precedent for 2008 is misplaced.  Bill Clinton snuck into office because Ross Perot ran for the office and humiliated both him and President Bush 41 in the first couple of debates.  Had Ross Perot not dropped out and then came back in with that kooky "threatened my daughter" story, President Perot would have been in the White House for four years.  Or had Perot never run, President Bush 41 would have been a two-term President.  The Clintons, after getting into the White House, bumbled the Congress into the hands of the GOP; the Democrats’ petulant behavior ever since has strengthened the GOP’s position at every level of government.

There is no third party candidate in 2008, unless Ralph Nader runs again and splits the extreme left vote.  It’s Hillary versus the GOP’s brightest star, whoever that person may be.  Our beloved President has gigantic shoes to fill.  Here is a man with unassailable integrity, complete candor, and down-to-earth goodness.  Should the GOP bring Condi Rice around and get her to run, how does Hillary deal with that?  Condi Rice is not a coddled upper-class Wellesley girl, she is a poor-born woman who watched some of her friends die in church bombings, and who is a self made mega-success.  She has our President’s unassailable integrity, candor and goodness.  Hillary could fake a move to the right of Pat Buchanan and not beat Condi!  But Condi is not yet running, and Hillary is doing what she must to have a chance of actually getting into the White House.

"Hillary is making the appearance of tacking to the center because she has no choice.  If she loses the nomination, she loses the nomination, but whoever would beat her would be so far to the left that he or she would be repugnant to the people."

Hillary is making the appearance of tacking to the center because she has no choice.  If she loses the nomination, she loses the nomination, but whoever would beat her would be so far to the left that he or she would be repugnant to the people.  The only way to have even a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the election is to appear to be a moderate.  To Hillary this means constantly lying about her true beliefs from now until the day after she would be, God forbid, inaugurated.  I personally think that the people are not keen on being B.S.’ed in this manner.
