Conservatives like You have been Heard! No rewards for Flouting our Laws!

Illegal immigrants, for no cause other than greed, flout our laws to get money from American companies.  Today, the Senate failed to break a filibuster fo a bill that would have rewarded these scofflaws with instant no-cost legality, provide illusory "border protection" that could be eliminated with no further Congressional act and provide a less-than-a-slap-on-the-wrist path to become citizens of the country whose laws they flouted.  My three legal immigrant grandparents no longer need to spin in their graves.

This is a stinging defeat for the following parties:

• Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats:  Senator Reid was unable to hold the Democrat caucus in the Senate together.  In fact, only 46 senators, including 11 Republicans voted.  Fourteen Democrats voted "no", and one (the stroke-disabled Senator Johnson of Douth Dakota) did not vote.  Had Reid held his coalition together, the Democrats would have gained a victory over the people.
   
  Special thanks to Democrat Senators Baucus, Bayh, Bingaman, Brown (Ohio), Byrd (!), Dorgan, Harkin, Landrieu, McCaskill, Nelson (NE), Pryor, Stabenow, Tester and Webb.  You voted for the government to respond to the wishes of the people.  The GOP needs you to defect from the Dark Side to the good.
   
• President Bush:  It is true that a Republican form of government, such as ours, relies on leaders to ecercise judgment as the elected representatives of the people.  However, the people generally expect their leaders to act according to the tenor of their philosophy, not to turn coat against their voters (and hence the Constitution).  I believe that the President is sincere, but he is sincerely misinformed.  He is also wrong.  It is dangerous to our national security to reawrd wrongdoers and simultaneously do nothing to prevent even more of them from entering at will, and perhaps posing as those eligible for the reward.

Thank God that this travesty has died the horrific death it deserved.
